What Does a Great Group Look Like?

Our Group’s Win Is…

To provide a predictable environment where participants pursue authentic community and spiritual growth.

During a game, we check the scoreboard to see if we’re winning. While there’s no scoring system for your group, there is a win and a way to determine how your group is doing in pursuit of that goal.

The good news for you as a group leader is that you aren’t responsible for anyone else’s growth. Only God can make people grow. You are responsible for doing all you can to create an environment for growth to occur. You can think of authentic community and spiritual growth as two gauges for your group.

As a leader, it’s helpful from time to time to evaluate how your group is doing in these two key areas of success. Get more tips and best practices.

How to Have Great Group Meetings

As You Plan for Group Discussions, Consider These Three Parts of Great Group Meetings.

Most leaders plan for 30 minutes of social and connect time, 60 minutes for time to learn together as a group through the group study and discussion, and then 30 minutes at the end of your group meeting focused on growth. Most groups enjoy the Connect time.

The Learn part is where you’ll spend most of your time in a group.

Be sure to prioritize Grow time at the end of each group meeting to allow your group members to share how God is currently at work in their lives and how the group can support them. As prayer requests surface, ask your group members how you can pray for them personally until you meet again.
